I have the pleasure of letting you all know that the fashion at Menlo college is almost non-existent.
Not the students and faculty, but the clothing that Menlo itself produces. All of the shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, all of it is just hard to look at and has no creative ideas behind it whatsoever. Now, I know that most of the administration has not yet come to terms with this because they most likely paid a man/ woman a bunch of money and are in denial about the whole thing. I am here to let you know that we as a school honestly do not like it.
Let’s start off with the new Menlo M thing (the logo). I am not entirely sure who thought a rip off of the YMCA logo, that also looks like a pair of pants, was a good idea but you should ask for a refund. When a possible new student looks at this logo nothing fun comes to mind only a strict place of learning. The second new logo you created was the new sports logo.
This logo is not as bad as the other one. However, the thing that is messed up about is that it looks like a high school superhero costume logo and it is just silly looking.
Now if you were really trying to rebrand a nice idea would have been to try some new colors. White and navy have been out of season for a few years now and when colors are old it turns people off and makes them want to leave. Wouldn’t you rather have students who want to wear your clothing and have it actually sell? Not to point out the obvious but we are a business school and so far it seems that this is not a very good marketing strategy.
For anyone who doesn’t know, the reason fashion companies are successful is because they change the colors and designs of their brand. This prevents boredom and draws new customers in. Menlo tried half of this method, but missed their mark. The main reason I am letting you all know this is because it is almost impossible for me or anyone to believe that a person who actually follows fashion or design put more than 5 minutes into these designs and items.
Some helpful tips I might throw out would be to use the colors yellow, orange, camel, or light blue, to go with current fashion trends. For actual pieces I would suggest finding a more fitted look rather then the pieces you have at the moment, because it is possible to have comfortable clothing as well as a clean looking style. Now Menlo Administration, do not freak out because of this honesty. I say this because I have only been here for one year and it looks like the people in charge tend to lose their minds over things and ideas they do not agree with. I just truly believe that the administration, or whoever they hired to create the new logo, has no sense of fashion, I mean come on have you ever looked at any of them and said “wow I love your outfit today”.
Everyone deserves honesty and since no one has acknowledged or addressed this issue I guess no one has been honest with you yet.
Sincerely, Jason Sisneros
