–by Samael McCormick–Last Thursday I had the opportunity to attend “Galentine’s day” hosted by the WILD club. I took an immediate interest in the club and what it stood for, eventually deciding to ask—-WILD, which stands for Womxn in Leadership Development is a club where women empower each other to their full potential, teaching women about their rights and upcoming opportunities. The club was founded with the intent of giving women a voice and setting the bar for future generations- which they definitely have done. This year alone they have partnered with the OIC (Oaks Innovation Club) to bring Startup Weekend Silicon Valley Womxn and were also able to attend several conferences, such as the Women’s Emerging Leadership Forum at USF, TED’s annual conference, TEDWomen in Palm Springs, and the upcoming 2020 SoGal Summit & Global Pitch Finals where they gained great tools for their professional development. They also are hosting Menlo’s annual Women’s Appreciation Day in partnership with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. At the event, members of the Board of Trustees will give awards to women who have contributed to gender equity on campus. This event is taking place on March 2nd at 2:45 if anyone is interested! If you would like to join the club or know more about how you can be more connected, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
