Menlo College is proud to offer these resources for free to every Menlo College student. Put your tuition dollars to work and take advantage of these tools today!
1. Activate Your Free Subscription to The New York Times
Every student should be keeping up with the news and, through the Bowman Library, every student has free access to The New York Times. Why is it important to read the news?
Reading the news is the primary way to keep up with market and industry updates and to stay “culturally literate.” This will make you more savvy in job interviews and networking events.
One-time registration is required; using a Menlo e-mail address is recommended:
● From on campus: https://myaccount.nytimes.com/grouppass/access
● From off campus: http://menlocollege.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://ezmyaccount.nytimes.com/grouppass
2. Learn How To Do (Almost) Anything on Lynda.com
Several years ago, the Menlo College Center for Academic and Professional Success purchased a community subscription to Lynda.com so that students would be able to supplement their classroom learning with free online courses and tutorials.
What can you learn on Lynda.com? Everything! Courses include everything from Advanced Excel to Time Management to Business Communication to Photography.
Lynda.com is the surest way to learn out how to do nearly anything you can imagine. Keep your skills fresh and stay competitive in the classroom and on the job hunt.
Create your account today: Email Vice President Angela Schmiede at firstname.lastname@example.org to request access.
3. Download Microsoft Office Suite
Sure, Google Drive is easy and convenient, but every college student should be learning how to use Excel, Word and PowerPoint. That’s why Menlo College offers every student a free download of Microsoft Office.
Whether you’re a business or psychology major, there’s more than a good chance your future employer will expect you to know how to use Excel for managing and organizing data, Word for writing up reports and memos, and PowerPoint for demos and client presentations.
Download MS Office today: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office and enter your @menlo.edu email address.
